Entering El Clericó you are struck by the opened-brick walls, the iron posts supporting iron grills on the ceiling, metal tables and chairs and red polished tiles on the floors. All this "masculinity" is complimented with Bordeaux red accents, innumerous green plants and subtle lighting, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. This is exactly the intention of the owners, which was underlined in our conversation with Leonardo, one of the conglomerate of owners who told us that the motto and intention of El Clericó, of which there are 3 in Spain, is to make the guest feel at home and be able to relax whilst enjoying good food.

El Clericó specialises in grilled meats and all the beef comes from Argentina, apart from that, which is on the bone, as this is not allowed to be exported.
Our starters consisted of grilled Provolone Cheese with herbs (Green Provolone Cheese), which was crunchy from both sides and not so greasy, due to being grilled. A spiced sausage (Typical Argentinean Spicy Sausage), deliciously different from your regular chorizo and a Grilled Argentinean Blood Sausage, which was spicy and delicious.
We like our meat medium rare and the platter of various meats set before us, was grilled to perfection. There were Short Ribs, on the bone - extremely succulent. Argentine Rib Eye and Tenderloin Steak tasted both juicy and were soft as butter as well as Grilled Veal Sweetbreads, which were divine. All main courses are served with a choice of chips, jacket potato with sour cream or a crisp mixed salad.
For those non-meat eaters, you have a choice of pasta dishes or fish or can just opt for a platter of grilled vegetables, which are wonderful.
Being Argentinean the desserts of course offer a dish with the National sweet called "dulche de leche". This is described on the menu as Milk Caramel, which basically describes what it is made of. It's a very soft toffee and just think of Banoffee and you'll know what it is. In El Clerico is is served in a pancake, just oozing with it!
There is excellent Argentinean wine on offer and El Clericó will wrap up you unfinished bottle so you can take it home, if needs be.
In Summer, there are several tables outside for dining as well as a small area where you can just sit, sipping a drink and watching the elegant Marbellans pass you by.

If you want superb meat set in an cosy ambience, combined with excellent service, then El Clericó is a must.
