Due to its success they later moved to the poligono (industrial park) feeding the workers during their lunch break with fine food and from there to another larger place in Estepona town. 7 years ago they found a beautiful old town house and to this day, this is where the tradition of fine cooking and hospitality is continued. Bodo, originally from Germany is the chef par excellance. His wife Maria is responsible for taking care of the guests, always smiling and open for conversation no matter how busy the restaurant is. The restaurant is a typical Spanish town house and the small, covered courtyard in the middle is surrounded by beautifully decorated walls, and lots of green plants. Steps lead up to a small, cosy mezzanine with tables. Much attention has been paid to every little detail and there is an abundance of tasteful bric-a -brac. Maria is helped by David, the waiter who also seems to have been born on the sunny side of life. Both make up an ever observant and helpful team. Whilst enjoying the complimentary snack, make sure to wait until Maria has told you about the day's specialities, before making your choice. These delicious specials are the very reason that many people come from as far as Malaga to dine here. Three of these for example are the Prawn Gratin (with a luscious light creamy sauce), the Chicken Breast stuffed with Smoked Salmon (very unusual and very tasty), and the Venison (served with a wonderful thick, fruity sauce) Do try the Fresh Salmon in Dill Sauce as a starter, even if like Carly, you don't like dill, this will make you change your mind. As would the daily fish special that was served the day we were there - Turbot in a Dill Cream Sauce, delicious. All dishes are by the way beautifully presented.
La Pampa does not have a dessert menu as Bodo makes most of them daily according to whatever ingredients are available. The cheesecake is made the German way, with Quark - a kind of curd - instead of Philadelphia cheese and consequently easier on the conscience but wonderful on the palate.
If you want to have a meal of the very special kind then you can order a Suckling Pig or the famous German speciality of Pigs Hock with Sauerkraut. Both have to be ordered at least a day before.
In fact, La Pampa caters for special events of all kinds, including wedding parties, birthday parties or even proposals. Whether it's a small intimate meal or a dinner for a whole group, in la Pampa, you will be treated to warm individual hospitality and enjoy a gorgeous meal.
